Star shaped Douglas Fir cone bowls

The Douglas Fir cones were shredded. For one of the stars the chips were bleached. The surface of the stars was sanded down when they were flat in the mould. The biobased binder caused the hardboard base to curve as it dried once it was released from its mould. This resulted in a organic shape as each point of the star curled in a different way. When the process stopped and it was totally dry, the surface was treated with a couple of layers of Shellac to make it more resistant to moisture.
