Squash packaging

This project was started at the beginning of the nineties by modifying Squash (Cucurbita pepo) to create an alternative packaging for the extensive use of plastic bottles and jars in the cosmetics industry. Box-like moulds were made and logo's and texts for soap, bath salt and bath oil were added on the inside. A wide variety of Calabash and Squash plants were grown and the small fruit was led inside the moulds. The resulting modified squashes were harvested in the autumn and cured.

Design and creation: A.J. Velthuizen.
Concept in collaboration with R.S. Wall.
